In London, a court has sentenced two people involved in money laundering while selling cars to Ukraine. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the London police.

We are talking about a criminal scheme that was developed by 52-year-old Valery Popovich, his wife Oksana, and 43-year-old Vitaly Lutsak. According to the police, they used the Ukrainian conflict to launder money. It happened like this: with the help of criminally obtained funds, they bought trucks in Britain and sold them to Kiev, and the proceeds were transferred to cryptocurrency.

"The group used the illegally obtained funds to purchase vans and trucks in the UK and sold them to Ukraine," the London police said.

According to the investigation, in total, more than six million pounds were legalized in this way (this is about 7.6 million US dollars). In total, cryptocurrencies worth more than $14 million passed through the crypto wallets on the computer of one of the criminals.

Two participants in the criminal scheme have already been sent to jail - Valery Popovich and Vitaly Lutsak were sentenced to six years and six months in prison. The third participant, Popovich's wife Oksana, will appear in court in May.
